Electrolysis is the oldest and only FDA approved permanent hair removal method. Electrolysis involves the insertion of a tiny filament directly into the hair follicle and an application of current. The applied current causes damage to the follicle which prevents it from regrowing hair.
Electrolysis can come with some short term discomforts, depending on what area is being treated. However, the good news is that there are many ways to alleviate discomfort before, during and after treatment.
Laser hair removal isn’t for everyone. Melanin, or the dark brown/black pigment of the hair is the target of laser hair removal. Sadly, if your skin tone is too dark, your hair is too light or you have a combination of both you may not be a candidate for laser treatment. Additionally, laser hair removal is only approved by the FDA as a hair reduction method which means treated hairs can regrow in the future.
However, electrolysis can be used on any skin tone, on any hair colour and is especially effective on red, white and grey hairs that are known to be stubborn. Electrolysis can even be performed within tattoos without damaging your artwork.
When your treatments are finished, YES, you will have achieved permanent removal of all treated hairs.
